Finally! I feel so accomplished!
I finally got around to finishing my first knit hat using my Knifty Knitter round loom! The project was stalled for a long time because I had (foolishly) let my GM's daughter borrow one of the smaller looms and the only set of hook and needle that came with the set. Eventually I got a new hook and needle (and a spare hook... just in case) but the binding off instructions in the little booklet didn't really make sense and I kept forgetting to bring it over to Heidi's so she could show me how. Last night I went to YouTube and finally found a helpful video on binding off using a loom. I ♥ YouTube! Yes, they have interesting music videos and AMVs, but they also have some very useful how-to stuff. It was a blessing because I need to SEE something done in order to do something... Or VERY precise written instructions... like the For Dummies series. haha. Now I want to start on a scarf using the long loom and when that new loom set arrives (it's supposed to be good for making mittens!) I can try tackling that as well! Hopefully by the time the temperatures drop, I'll have the nice, bright YELLOW scarf/hat/mitten set I've always wanted. Current Mood: thrilled | | Sunday, July 5th, 2009 | | 2:32 pm |

A REAL Puppeteer
Phillip Huber was the performer who did all of the puppet scenes in Being John Malkovich. I did a Google search and found this interesting site. Enjoy! | | Friday, May 29th, 2009 | | 5:21 pm |

We'll be leaving shortly (hopefully) to head down to the Civic Auditorium to watch Christopher graduate. Sixteenth in his class, I'm so proud! After Shirley graduates next year that will finally be the end of high school for this branch of the family. And then Alexis will graduate and then we'll have about a ten year break until Aidan puts on the cap and gown. God, I need to get my camera back from Shirley! | | 4:43 pm |

Ratties!
Quick post since I have to leave for work in seven minutes. RATTIES! Heidi and Cliff stopped by a little while ago and they had just adopted two male rats from the Nebraska Humane Society (where I adopted Margo)! The black hooded rat they named Torpedo and the white albino is Brain. Yes, as in Pinky and the Brain. Don't ask. He's a dork that way. Male rats are so much BIGGER! OMG! I gave them Silky's cage and what was left of the litter and food. If I can manage, I'll take the bus over after work to visit. Ratties! Oh, how I missed seeing/holding/petting them! YouTube - Rat Bruxing and Boggling... (I miss Silky)
I'm missing Silky something fierce right now. Normally I'd have her sitting on my shoulder as I check my email and mess around on the computer. I miss her small, warm weight on my shoulder and the sounds of her grinding her teeth in contentment. I remember the first time I saw Silky boggling, I thought something was wrong with her. haha. But apparently it's a sign of happiness. It's usually accompanied by bruxing (when they grind their teeth together - kind of like cats purring - is a good thing... usuallly.) She always did it when I was holding her and stroking her head. At least my baby was happy. | | Saturday, May 9th, 2009 | | 2:59 pm |
Yay! Portable music!
Okay, I know I told myself that any extra money I had left over after paying bills would be spent responsibly... and yet, I bought an iPod shuffle. It's really, really tiny. And it's supposed to hold up to 200+ songs. In other words, way more than I have on my computer right now. (I lost a great deal of music when my other computer crashed in December 2007. Woe.) Since it was $45 I didn't break the bank, but now I'm looking at the instructions and I need to download iTunes? Does this mean I can't download music I already have on Windows Media Player? If so, that suck donkey balls. Seriously. Oh well, I'll figure it out somehow. And then I'll have portable music. Yay! And I won't have to take CDs to Taco Johns to listen to while I close. I don't trust my fellow employees with them. I accidentally left Dracula: Entre L'Amour et la Mort on Sunday and when I got it back the next day, it was scratched up and many of the songs now skip. Bastards. Do you know how much that CD cost? It's not like I can just pop down to WalMart and get another one. *GRRR* | | Friday, May 8th, 2009 | | 12:45 am |
ArtRage - Walking On Glass
I got the idea for this after recently getting a review for my Gundam Wing story, Walking On Glass. At the time I wrote it back in November 2001, I thought it was pretty good. Now it makes me cringe and ask myself, "What the hell was I thinking?" In the story Duo never actually saw blood, though he expected to see it the first time he tried walking on his new human feet. But every step he took felt like he was walking on shards of broken glass, thus the title. |
